Welcome to Bells Island Campground in Currituck North Carolina. This beautiful well manicured Campground offers all of the amenities and comforts of home. Visit them soon and relax. Bells Island Campground is located in Currituck, NC and is conveniently located centrally between the Outer Banks of NC and Virginia Beach, VA. Our campground offers a quiet setting where kids play in a safe environment and a family setting and has done so since 1963. The main theme of our campground is water related activities. We have a pier for fishing, crabbing, or just relaxing in the sun. Our boat ramp is included with your stay. We also have a tennis court, volley ball area and sound/lake swimming. We are located on Currituck Sound and about a 20 minute boat ride frpm Corolla. The Currituck Sound ferry is 5 minutes away. We offer shaded RV sites with 30 amp and 50 electrical, both full hookup and water and electric sites, and tent camping is also available. We pride ourselves in having a safe, clean, and well kept campground. Whether you're here to relax, enjoy the water or just traveling through. We're sure that you will enjoy your stay. Reservations are encouraged all year and especially during the summer months. Beautiful Views of the Currituck Sound If you have ever visited the Outer Banks or the coastal waterways of NC, then you are aware of their splendor. This area is the home of numerous species of migratory waterfowl and native birds as well as otter, muskrat, and raccoon. Bald eagle and osprey are normal sitings in this area. Currituck Sound is a major wintering area for tundra swan which return every year from their summer home on the arctic tundra. These waters are known for blue crab and many species of fish are taken commercially and also are pursued for sport fishing. Boating, waterskiing, tubing, jetskiing, sailing, and kayaking are among other activities enjoyed on these waters. Fun In The Sun All types of water sports can be enjoyed right off of Bells Island, swimming, boating kayaking, canoeing,clam digging, fishing, bird watching and much, much more... OR you can sit at the waters edge, while your children play safer in the shallow waters of the Sound. It is an ideal spot for just relaxing and while being close enough to several restaurants and stores with everything you will need for your camping pleasures. Fish the Sound, Bells Island Campground has a boat ramp and pier for your enjoyment and use. Remember proper fishing licences are required.. Weeping Radish Brewery Restaurant and Butchery - handcrafted beer(20 min.) North Carolina's oldest jail (5 min.) Outer Banks (35 to 40 min.) Directions to Campground Driving in from the North (Chesapeake, VA), take US 168 (BY-Pass) South, from Interstate 64, towards Nags Head and Outer Banks. Cross NC/VA line and travel 15 miles to Bells Island Rd. turn left and follow Bells Island Rd. for 3 miles (seems further) and drive until you see the campground on left side. Turn left just past the tennis court. From Outer Banks go North on US158 straight to NC168, then 4.5mi. and turn right on Bells Island Rd. and go 3 mi. on left From Elizabeth City, NC, either US 158 or US 34 East will bring you to 168, North and South. From US 34, make a right and go 4miles to south on NC168 and turn left on Bells Island Rd. and travel 3 mi. and campground is on left. US 158 WEST, stay straight at 158/168 intersection to stoplight, then turn left and go 4.5 miles north on NC 168, turn right onto Bells Island Rd. (SR 1245), then 3 miles and campground is on left.
